It is known that black women sometimes take offense at how black men date outside of their race, particularly when they become successful. Many of them seem to feel that when they reach a certain status, they are above dating and marrying African American women.
Even those without a cent to their name have a preference for non-black women. This is upsetting when black women are the least likely group to marry. And matters are made even worse because many African American women are extremely loyal to black men, and want to date nothing else.
So when I see a black woman dating interracially, a part of me is happy that she is able to get past racial barriers and open her mind enough to date a person she is compatible with.
It's also somewhat rebellious because the black community is particularly disapproving of black women who do not wait for her black man to come along. And I have to admit that a part of me gloats because black men date interracially all day long but have a problem when a black woman does it.
One time, I saw an older white man walking into a store with his biracial grand daughter. And I found this intriguing. It made me think of another reason why the black woman/white man couple draws my attention. Maybe it's because white men are perceived to be the most racist group in America.
They have all the money, all the power, and disown their children for mingling with blacks. Therefore, to see a white man dating a black woman, publicly acknowledging their relationship, somewhat disrupts that idea (at least on the surface).
Black women should not feel extra special that white men like them, but seeing a white man who obviously appreciates an African American woman--looking past her skin color enough to recognize her beauty, her great personality, and everything she has to offer as a woman---is refreshing. And it works the other way around also.

1. She is dating him for his money.
2. She is desperate and cannot find a black man to date her.
3. All the black men she has dated have treated her poorly so she's written them off.
4. She hates her blackness and/or wants to have light skinned, curly haired children.
These reasons may apply for some, but you must understand that under the coloring, they are WOMEN. Likewise, men are MEN regardless of race. Of course everyone has individual preferences, but black women like white men for the same reasons they may be attracted to a man of her own or any other race.
Although African American (AA) women tend to prefer dating within their own race, this cannot be assumed. If you are a white man who wants to get to know an AA woman who has caught your eye, go talk to her!
White men should definitely approach AA women because more than likely she will NOT make the first move if she is interested. Of course, it is possible that she will reject you, but it's possible that ANY woman you approach will not be receptive to your advances. Race has nothing to do with it.

5 Tips For White Men Who Want to Date Black Women
So you are a white guy and see a black woman you like? Generally speaking there are no extra special rules to approaching and getting to know a black woman.
Under her brown, beautiful skin, she's still a woman, after all.
However, there are a few things I can think of that may help make it easier to meet that black girl of your dreams:
1. If you decide to walk up to this black girl you think is so cute, don't mention race if you can avoid it (which you can...just don't do it!) In other words, do not walk up to her and say something like, "Do you like white guys?" or tell her "You don't like white guys, do you?" That sounds so insecure, as if your own persona cannot stand on its own two legs. If she likes you, then she likes you! If she has a problem with interracial dating, you don't have to ask her--just look for the signs of disinterest (short answers, looking away and avoiding eye contact, trying to find an escape....etc.).
Also, do not make any blatant remarks concerning her race, such as "I don't usually like black girls, but you are hot!" This is insulting.
2. If you want to know if she is receptive to white guys, a good thing to do is observe from afar for a while. Does she have friends of other races? Does she have a varied taste in music? Ask information of her acquaintances....close friends will likely blow your cover.
3. Going hand in hand with #1, be yourself. Do not try to speak to her in "ghetto slang", unless of course that's how you normally speak. Do not assume that she voted for or even likes President Obama. And don't try to impress her by namedropping the rap artists in your Ipod playlist. Try to find common ground but don't make assumptions.
4. Be confident, but be smart. Don't approach a black woman of interest when she is with a group of women. This is common sense for guys, but it is better to talk to her when she's alone. If she does not like white guys, it's possible that she may try to put on a show for her friends, or she may be embarrassed about talking to a white guy in "that" way in front of her group. Although she may be open, her friends could be under the assumption that she would never "go there."
5. If you do get anywhere with the black woman you are after, realize that she wants to be treated respectfully. Although some black women want to "try" out a white guy, most people do not like feeling like an object. If she wants something serious, likely she will not take kindly to being your experiment or fetish.
Also, know that if you move further into a relationship with a black woman, you have to be confident enough to treat it as a true loving relationship. This means that if you are not strong enough to stand up to your friends and/or family that disapprove of your new black girlfriend, then you probably should not enter an interracial relationship And the same goes for her.

The idea of "black love" seems solid and it's something that black women want, even to the detriment of their dating lives.
