Relationships on the Rebound - After a Break Up

May 5, 2010

Breakups happen.  Rebound relationships that take place after a break up may or may not work. Although rebounding relationships are not wrong, you should certainly be aware and think twice about the downsides.

The first few days after breaking up are depressing and exceedingly agonizing probably for both partners. Regardless of what the cause of the break up was, numerous arrangements within the partnership suddenly come to an end coinciding with the break-up itself. This contributes an end to many aspirations, plans and dreams. Numerous people who sustain such a state of affairs will become involved in a rebound relationship to temporarily stop the pain.

Rebound relationships after a break-up are quite frequent so you can find somebody to disclose your beliefs, sentiments and significantly rid yourself of the heartache brought on by a recent split. Should you decide to go down this path, most people will not consider all the possibilities of further complications.

A relationship that starts with this type of impulse breaks all the rules of how to build an emotionally safe union. However, while the odds are stacked against you, we hear stories from time to time that a rebound hook up was the perfect remedy for dealing with past pain. Although, if you would like to hear what the experts have to say about this matter, please read on!

Rebound Relationships: Allow yourself some time to heal instead of setting yourself up for more pain. It's extremely possible that you could find somebody, with whom you will treasure many moments with after your break-up. You will experience many instances of loneliness and will feel easily drawn towards someone who is willing to listen to your feelings of hurt. But do they REALLY have your best intentions in mind? You may start to feel safe and at ease with this new person, and will feel compelled to spend more time together.

But make no mistake about it, whether this new person is well matched to your personality or not, most relationship experts will advise to heal your heart before giving it away to someone else too quickly. What usually happens is that you end up simply delaying the healing process and set yourself up for an even bigger fall if your new fling fails. It is very hard to gather your self-confidence after a break up from a long-term relationship, and jumping into a short-term relationship straight away usually ends up damaging your self esteem even more if things go wrong.

Rebound relationships that can actually succeed are often the result of maturity and a unique understanding between two people who can both accept the need for the healing process to take place. Do you have children? Is your new 'friend' willing to REALLY except this or did he or she just tell you this in order to have casual sex? For any relationship to work under these conditions, there must be a good understanding and a willingness to be patient and to take things one step at a time.
