>> Interracial dating trends – Black – White – Asian
Common hurdles faced by interracial couples and how to beat the traditionalists. It is important to point out that gender is one of the determining factors of interracial dating trends. Caucasian females are least likely to date Asian men, whilst white males in the U.S tend to be least attracted to female African American’s. With all the choice and online dating niches available for today’s singles , cross cultural online dating is one niche that remains untapped and according to statisticians will remain that way due to a lack of potential demand. Trends in the online dating scene strongly indicate that singles prefer to pursue romance within their own domain.
While these trends are a generalization, it’s not uncommon to see happy interracial couples who have blended their traditions, and if you are one of those people who prefer to date outside your race, we have compiled some tips to help facilitate your non traditional dating experiences.
The diehards: Staunch traditionalists cannot conceive or tolerate the idea of their children interbreeding. This mentality can be aligned with religion, or strong influences from previous less racial tolerant generations. Up until 1967, U.S law prohibited marriage outside of ones race. Whilst there is still alot to do, interracial dating and marriage is far more acceptable in main stream society than previously with current trends slowly dissolving steadfast views.
Individually, many people strive for the acceptance of personal choice, however our choices and decisions are still heavily determined by outside influences such as friends and family. Open racial dating is something that needs to be supported in current times of global unrest as combining traditions sets the scene to better understand divided races.
The media should also shoulder much of the blame for our divisive society. It’s far easier and financially viable for advertisers, television/radio networks and newspaper publications to cater for the general audience than it is to introduce media campaigns targeting individual ethnic groups.
To give you an idea of the marriage statistics when it comes to interracial dating and marriage, we have compiled some interesting statistics based on the 2008 U.S census results:
Black husbands: Married 310,000 white women – Married 4,190,000 black women – Married 39,700 Asian women. White husbands: Married 55,399,200 white women – Married 137,000 black women – Married 713,000 Asian women. Asian husbands: Married 193,000 white women – Married 8400 black women – Married 2,790,000 Asian women.
Thanks to modern technologies, the internet is also contributing to more interracial dating and marriages. For singles with the desire to form relationships outside their race, online dating sites provide this opportunity. Determining and recognizing opportunities offline together with constant negative influences, online dating sites will take you directly to those looking for foreign lovers.
Dating someone of a foreign background will also cause people to stare when you are out in public. Whilst this may seem offensive and off putting, there is every chance these looker-on’s are intrigued and fascinated. See this as your opportunity and contribution to show the world that we are all of one race, the human race.
>> Obama: The Face of Black and White Interracial Dating
Everyone know that President Barack Obama is a product of black and white dating or marriage for that matter. He was born to a white mother and black father and he spent most of his childhood with his white grandparents from Kansas.
Multicultural, biracial, mixed-race, interracial are the names people have used to describe the likes of Obama. Most off-springs from black and white dating and unions have had such a rough time growing up. And the greatest issue has been the issue of identity. And much as we had the likes of Halle Berry before, it kind of seems that having a recognizable face like the president’s (a face that commands so much respect) to match the term is such a big deal. And now more than ever, they believe that anything is possible for them.
Most biracial kids have never had it easy growing up. Kristine Brown is a product of black and white dating. When her mother (white) found out she was pregnant out of wedlock and was going to have a ‘black’ child, she was disowned. She then got adopted by a white couple and grew up in an all-white neighborhood.
Much as Kristine’s adoptive parents encouraged her to have a healthy identity and taught her that she didn’t have to absorb black stereotypes to feel strong about her identity she had difficulty in the predominantly white school she was attending where she was berated by teachers and even had her hair set on fire.
Looking back, there are a lot of off-springs of black and white dating who have had to face racial issues and up until 2000, these black-white mixed-race individuals had to choose either black or white as their race while census reports were being filled out.
Today, mixed-race individuals have a separate category. And since this category is fairly new in the U.S. Census Bureau, it’s hard to gauge the exact increase in mixed-race children.
Obama has discussed openly about his own struggle with racial identity and this is making people talking about it in a less painful way. With the increase in black and white dating and marriages over the past two decades, the racial make-up of most communities has changed and so have the attitudes towards mixed-race individuals and families. And with Obama to identify with, most people believe that mixed-race individuals can be themselves and not have to fit in one racial group or the other. His book also makes mixed-race individuals feel that they can go through that struggle and still emerge as respectable persons within the society.
>> Interracial personals: Get more attention!
Most people interested in interracial relationships start with creating interracial personals on interracial dating sites especially, so that other singles in similar relationships can know more about them. When I decided to give online dating a try so I can find my date, I put up my interracial personals ad on one of the interracial dating sites. To tell you the truth, I did not get the desired response I anticipated. So I wondered why this was happening and then it hit me … Everyone on the interracial dating site was there for the same reason as I. And since I was competing with some of them for potential mates, I had to find a way of making my interracial personals ad stand out. I figured this was no time to give up over not getting enough responses. I figured it was time to spruce up my interracial personal and make it just as attractive to other interracial singles.
So how did I go about this?
I had to learn to get descriptive and make me look attractive with words. Getting the humor in all this wasn’t so easy but then writing with honesty kinda helps you ease into the whole thing. A little humor sometimes can make interracial personals stand out from the boring ones. It gives the other singles this vibe that you are fun to be around. I decided to be truthful about the stuff I like and let my readers know exactly what I was after – a serious relationship.
Another thing I learnt is that being negative and talking about dating failures on interracial personals puts off others. It puts me off. Much as you are being, pain and failure make others think you are not ready for dating. So I went over my profile and got rid of all the bleeding. And if you still hang up on the past, get over it first before posting that interracial personal.
The best way to learn is looking within you. When browsing other interracial personals on interracial dating sites, what puts you off? Avoid such mistakes. And the worst thing you can ever do to ruin your chances on interracial dating sites is giving up. All you need to do is try a new approach next time. And just like I did, you will get the desired attention from desired respondents eventually.
>> Black white dating is here to stay
Black white dating should not be judged even by those who feel that races should not mix. And for those who feel interracial dating should be forbidden, one thing they need to realize is that we now live in a world where race, age and even financial status are becoming less and less important in our relationship. Skin color isn’t that important … personality flies.Black white dating and interracial dating and marriages have generally increased. We now look for people who make us happy and who we can make happy despite race and all those things that used to matter then.
The internet is the best place to start the journey of black white dating if that is what you are interested in. You can fine the person who is right for you just by surfing the internet. Prejudice will always be there and as long as interracial dating exists, there are those who will always cringe at the idea. So best thing is to just live your life and find the one the makes you tick without caring what others think.
When it comes to relationships, race should not matter. And much as it defines someone’s beliefs and where the person comes from, it plays a very small role in romantic relationships and should not be a factor to eliminate all potential partners.
Given history, black white dating has proved to be challenging. That much we cannot deny. But when you get the right place to start from (a place where people think alike), you will be fine. This is why black white dating sites exist; to increase ones possibilities of interracial dating.
So when you see a black white couple passing by, it’s not our place to tell them whether they should or shouldn’t date. I think we all have our personal problems to worry about besides other people’s relationships. And races weren’t created to live in separation but to interact and live in harmony. So if all co-exist in our work places, what difference is there in romantic relationships?
Fact: Even with all the criticisms, interracial dating is going nowhere. So if society is the reason you aren’t happy with the one you love, ask yourself this: “Will society keep me company when I am lonely or miserable with someone I don’t love?”
INTERRACIAL DATING: Will My Partner Be Right For Me?
The main benefit of living in a large city is that interracial dating happens without any premeditation or preconception. You get to rub shoulders with friendly people from all over the world. A simple walk on the streets opens up a world of possibilities and could well turn out into you meeting a person from a different ethnicity who you like and may grow to like romantically. When people from different ethnic groups meet, interracial or biracial dating usually makes parties involved take the initiative to explore each others cultures. They try to research as much as possible on the other person’s culture in order to capitalize on the common areas of their cultures. And while doing this, one gets to learn what the other person holds dear about their culture and this is one of the ways to know if the relationship can work for both of you. Question is, are you willing to make compromises?
Over the years, people have had reservations about dating sites in general. And the biggest issue of all has been compatibility. “Will he or she be right for me? Going through interracial dating sites somehow helps one figure out the compatibility bit. Search parameters for physique, hobbies, educational background, and race allow you to at gauge compatibility levels. And with more people registering on a daily basis, each new interracial personals ad increases the odds of finding that compatible person. And since most of the interracial dating sites are chat enabled, it’s easier to get to know one another before committing into a romantic relationship.
Once you start interracial or biracial dating, be prepared for some flak from friends and family from both sides coz much as we like to think people of today are enlightened, not everyone will be comfortable with your interracial relationship. How you handle this will also determine whether you are right for each other or not. If the two of you love each other enough, then you won’t feel this storm.
Much as some people still have issues about interracial dating, the beauty is that every additional relationship moves us much closer to global unification. And race will never determine whether your partner will be right for you. It’s their personality that counts.
>> INTERRACIAL INTIMACY: Why Black & White Dating and Marriage Are So Hot
Interracial dating is gaining fast acceptance and popularity on the Internet, where there are literally dozens of Web sites dedicated to interracial dating, marriages and families…
As Ted, a white guy dating an African American girl says, “I fell for her because she’s so beautiful. And the sexual tension is incredible!”
A recent Gallup Poll concludes: “Most Americans Approve of Interracial Marriages!”
“In just a few years, crowning with the election of President Obama, Interracial dating and marriage have become the hot new trend,” says Winnie of WUVING.com

At InterracialCupid.com, you can read their success stories.
By 2008, the Associated Press, in an report called Interracial Marriages Flourishing!, was able to report: “The charisma king of the 2008 presidential field. The world’s best golfer. The captain of the New York Yankees. Besides superstardom, Barack Obama, Tiger Woods and Derek Jeter have another common bond: Each is the child of an interracial marriage.”
Many prominent blacks — including Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, civil rights leader Julian Bond and former U.S. Sen. Carol Moseley Braun — have married whites. Well-known whites who have married blacks include former Defense Secretary William Cohen and actor Robert DeNiro.
Opinion polls show overwhelming popular support, especially among younger people, for interracial marriage.
In many cases, interracial families embody a mix of nationalities as well as races. Michelle Cadeau, born in Sweden, and her husband, James, born in Haiti, are raising their two sons as Americans in racially diverse West Orange, N.J., while teaching them about all three cultures.
“I think the children of families like ours will be able to make a difference in the world, and do things we weren’t able to do,” Michelle Cadeau said.
“It’s really important to put all their cultures together, to be aware of their roots, so they grow up not just as Swedish or Haitian or American, but as global citizens.”
Kerry Ann Rockquemore, professor of African-American studies at the University of Illinois-Chicago, is the daughter of a black father and white mother, and says she is asked almost daily how she identifies herself.
The Canadian Press, in a 2008 report titled Interracial Marriages Forming at Unprecedented Rates, said: “Four decades after Hollywood’s first interracial kiss in ‘Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner’ shocked mainstream America, Canada’s multicultural society is increasingly showing signs that love is colour blind.
“Since Sidney Poitier’s landmark smooch, Hollywood continued the tradition of big-screen portrayals of interracial romances. Kevin Costner hooked up with Whitney Houston in ‘The Bodyguard’ and Spike Lee brought together a black man and white woman in the more gritty ‘Jungle Fever.’
“Images of real-life interracial couples such as Halle Berry and Montreal model Gabriel Aubry, as well as Gov. Gen. Michaelle Jean and Jean-Daniel Lafond rarely provoke a mention of their mixed-race makeup. The latest census figures released Wednesday by Statistics Canada show that, on this side of the border, mixed unions are forming at unprecedented rates.”
A report released by University of Lethbridge sociologist Reginald Bibby shows that 92 per cent of Canadians are in favour of such interracial unions. “Many sociologists view interracial marriage as the best barometer of racial and cultural integration in a society,” Bibby says.
“Intermarriage translates into the fact that people are clearly relating to each other socially, to the point where they’re getting married,” he says. “There’s an obvious social and biological blending going on, so the barriers are broken down at that point.”
